Meet Ula

Hello everyone I hope you’re all well and looking forward to a long weekend.
I am here to share some ubber sweet cards over the next few days of the new release from the amazbaules Nikky Hall.
Ula is sweet girl and comes in 9 different designs so there is something for everyone. She also comes with some free sentiments too! You can buy them as a set or individually all links at bottom of post.
So for this collection Nikky asked us if we liked using mixed media in our card making, well I love doing mixed media don’t do it enough but then I guess it all depends what you class as mixed media doesn’t it lol
Anyway for my first card I went a little dark and gothic it’s been such a long time since I did a bit of Goth!

The papers I used are from the Octavia collection as there are no papers with this new collection just images, I distressed the edges and inked I then cut the one corner off some of the papers and added some lovely lace, and added some cheese cloth behind.

The image (called be yourself) has been coloured with polychromo pencils. And I printed the words off (not part of the images) at the same time then inked. I also added some diluted paint splatters to the papers.

I made the embellishments taking some metal items from my embellishment tin and I went over them with black stencil paste then added some distress spray paint.  The flowers were from some old jewellery Amy was throwing away so I saved from the bin and up cycled them again giving them the same treatment as the butterfly and corner piece. I then got a chipboard heart that was part of a hanger and coloured that along with the heart with the word you inside (it was this that gave me the idea for the card TBH) I added a large floppy bow to the large chipboard heart with a pearl brad for the centre and there you have it.

So I hope you like my first card for this launch you will have to wait until Monday for my next creation but head over to our FB page and you see more creations by wonderful teamies and there are some crackers I can tell you!!!!!!!

Make up Attitude

Good morning everyone well what a mix of weather we’re having this week snow, sleet, it’s meant to be spring for goodness sake!
Anyway I hope you’re all well I have a card to share with you today that I made for Amy’s (my daughter) birthday she turned 25 on Tuesday now I can tell you we did not have any sleet or snow the day she was born it was so hot, I’ll always remember that.
So anyone that knows my daughter will know she obsessed with makeup (she reminds me so much of myself when I was young I dreamed of becoming a makeup artist/hairdresser I would get asked by all the girls at school to do their makeup for them). For those that don’t here is a pic of her.

When Alyce from Kit and Clowder gave away an image from sweet escapes(links below) I knew it be perfect for her card.

The card is my usual 8x8” and the papers are from pixel scrapper which I distressed and inked then splattered with diluted acrylic paint and starlight paint in Lilac mist.
I coloured the image with Polychromo pencils then masked off and added the background with distress inks.

To embellish the card I got some clip art lipsticks and printed them off on some heavy card stock then embossed with clear powder I then gave them a splattering to tie them in with the rest of the card. Then I made a very large floppy bow (I am loving these at the moment they’re so easy to make) the centre of the bow is a brad I just clipped the arms off at the back and glued it in place then added flecks of paint again in white lilac and I also added some gold.

Finally I made the insert using papers from the front and bringing the image through but leaving uncoloured then I saw this  “quote”  on google  so I thought yep that’s my Amy so I added that to the image then added the verse.

Hope you like it and I will see you very soon with some other makes (and there are a few to come lol)

A Wiz of a Guy

Happy Sunday Everyone how’s your weekend going. We have Birthday celebrations under way as its Amy’s Birthday on Tuesday I can’t believe how fast the time has gone 25 years ago she was a little bundle of joy and now she has grown into a beautiful young woman.
Anyway I have a card to share to today. I don’t know if you remember (those that follow me on FB) I did a WIP of this guy a few weeks ago, I was asked what I what going to do with it once it was complete would I be making it into a Birthday card. I said more than likely yes so someone said could I have it for someone I know. (No pressure then to make a spot on card)

Anyway this is what I came up with the card is 8x8” and the papers are from Pixel scrapper and have been distressed and inked with DI. I added some cheese cloth to give some texture.

The image was coloured with polychromo pencils,  then I  used some pale greys to create the background I was so nervous not to cock the background up after all that colouring (Don’t know why but I really love colouring this chappy)
To embellish the card I did what I love to do and made them from scratch
The scroll opens up and has a spell on it I made it but printing off the spell then aging the paper I got a skewer stick and cut lengths off to make the handles (or whatever you call then) then added some craft wire to the ends and then painted with gold/bronze ink , I glued the paper in place then rolled it down, I add some thread to the back so that when it is fully rolled it can be tied (but can still be opened).
Then I made the book I got a cover that looked old and printed this off along with a back piece then printed a couple of spells to go in the centre. I aged the pages with Distress inks and then cut out loads of pages sticking them together but leaving the middle pages open then glued into the cover.
Finally it was the magic potion I got a glass bottle added some glossy accent and alcohol inks and glitter and swirled around the bottle let it dry for a bit (it doesn’t dry completely so gives the effect that there is more in than there actually is) and added a tag to the neck .
Last but least I made the insert in my usual way unfortunately I don’t have a picture of the insert as it was on my old PC and I couldn’t retrieve it L. But you have seen how I make my inserts loads of times.
And there you have it I do hope you like it and I will see you very soon with my Birthday card for Amy J

Anything goes using a PD design sheet

Hello my lovely peeps I hope you are all well and have recovered from all the chocolate overload lol. I have to say I was very good honest only 1 Easter egg!
Do you ever feel like you are chasing your tail and getting nowhere I have been feeling like this for a few weeks now, I seem to get something done only for 2 or 3 other things to need doing, I have a lot of decisions to make as well which is causing me a tizz oh what to do for the best oh well.
But on another note as it’s Friday we have another challenge for you over at Polkadoodles  our theme for you guys is as always anything goes but for us DT gals we have a theme to follow this fortnight it’s to use a design sheet.
Now I had my card all designed and printed out knew exactly what I wanted to make and then the lovely Nikky goes and releases the ubber adorable Horace and Boo OMG had to have them of course so then again even more decisions what do I do now do I use the design I have already done or do I use one of the new release DS. Well I have thrown caution to the wind and done both (shock gasp splutter) so yes you now have 2 cards for the price of 1.

For my first card I have used the very cute sticks and bone download using design sheet 1 I printed the paper at 5.5” sq and the topper and tag along with the bones for embellishing. I cut them out and added to my card blank so a very quick and simple card to create.

For my 2nd card I actually used one of the images from DS 2 then went into the embellishment folder and took then fish bowl and added that to the image them just printed out and 5.5” sq then attached to card so again a really cute card with very little time spent ideal for the last minute cards.

So there you have my 2 cards for today I hope you like them and I will see you soon
Links you will need to find what is used and where to find us
